HOME, Sept. 2.—lt has often been suggested that two nations instead of r’siug armies to wage a- war against each other should each appoint a gladiator and that the nation whose gladiator wins should win the war. Hie Fascisti (militant anti-seditionists) and the Legionaries of tho airman poet and ex-rebel d’Annunzio have adopted this suggestion to settle a. long-standing feud. Each side appointed an officer, Signor Vittorio Pantaleo, an engineer, for tlie Legionaries, and Captain Padova ni for the Fascisti.

Tho two met with swords this morning at Villavicca, near Naples, and in tho fifth encounter Pantaleo ovns wounded in the right arm. iho two champions were then reconciled. The feud originated in an allegation by the Legionaries that the Fascisti had referred insultingly to dAnnunzio. The central committee of the Fascisti have published a. statement protesting against tho decision of tho British dock workers not to unload the Italian steamer Accamo on its arrival at Cardiff because it is manned by Fascisti, and threatening to have all British ships in Italian ports boycotted. Tho crew of tho Aceame, the Giornale d’ltalia says, are members of the Fascists Seamens’ Union,
