SOLDIERS' DEBTS

The daily question about soldier settlement related to the dilatory payment of their accounts through tho Lands Department, the member for Stratford suggesting that many soldier settlors had, as a result, to pay interest on sums owing. Ho asked the Minister of Lauds to undertake to refund these charges where dilatoriness was proved. Mr. Guthrie replied that the delay was sometimes duo to the soldier, but if it could be proved otherwise, and application was made to the Lands Board, it would be authorised to refund the interest if an account had not been paid owing to the land officer's neglect. THE MOKATOBIUM. "Next session will be early enough to amend the Moratorium Act," re. marked the Premier in reply to a ques.. Uoji on the subject. He explained that the position is being watched carefully, and ho would inform the House what were tho Government's intentions before this session comes to a close.
