(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.

(The. Times.) (Received July 12, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, July 10.

The Times' Oppeln correspondentstates that ghastly outrages by Germans in Upper Silesia against Polish girls continue. Mobs of roughs are raiding houses, dragging out screaming victims, stripping, beating, and dragging tiiem along by the hair, which is then cut off. A mob of about a thousand Germans tried to break into an hotel to get a single Polish girl who was staying there. Tlio Times' correspondent telephoned an Allied general, who ordered out armored cars. The order was heard on tho telephono and communicated to tho mob, which began to disperse, but sporadic outrages continued all night. Five hundred extra. police were brought from Breslau and 20 of tho mob arrested.

Similar .atrocities arc reported from Gleiwitz, Beuthen, and Ratisbor. The Allied evacuation of O-ppeln was carried out with the utmost caution. Traffic was stopped and blinds and windows overlooking, the street lowered, the people, looking on silently. All Oppeln and German Upper Silesia tiro flying, the forbidden red, white, and black flag. Telegraphic advices later state that the town is quiet, but there is an un•easy feeling in the air.
