CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW.
The schedule committee of the Poverty Bay Horticultural Society met tn Thursday evening, and arranged the classes i'or competition at the Chrysanthemum Show, which is to he-held on Saturday, May 6. The main feature will, of course, he the chrysanthemums, blit all othci blooms likely to be exhibited have been provided for, as well as vegetables, fruit, and preserves. Cut blooms have been divided into two sections, one i'or those growers whose holdings do not exceed one : quarler acre, and the other for an\ area. This should lead to much greater competition than under the old rule, which forced the small grower to show against all-comers. Some interesting discussions took place on various subjects, and it was mentioned that chrysanthemum blooms cottlt be kept fit for exhibition purposes fin several weeks after being cut, so long as tlie blooms were kept dry and m a dark place, with frequent changes of water.
The schedule will be put into tin printer’s hand immediately after tin holidays, and will probably he. ready lot circulation on Wednesday next.
