BUTTER POOL MOOTED
(Special to l*o Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day
This season's experience of the fluctuating prices in the export butter market has revived (he dairy producers' interest in the pooling proposal for export purposes. This was discussed when the meat pool was in process of formation, but on that occasion definite opinions wore expressed by representatives! of the dairy producers that their organisation was'sufficiently complete (o achieve their marketing aims. It is reported, however, that there lias been so yreal a change in opinion in favor of controlled export that the position is being seriously discussed. Nothimji could be done without legislation, and no pooling operation could be started this season, "hut it is understood that llio matter is beine; made the .subject of-a. conference with those concerned, and that the Government has some idea of what is likely to be proposed. An indispensable preliminary would be.an indication from dairy producers that a statutory pooling proposal would bo widely supported.
