When the Federal Parliament meets proposals will be submitled to float a loan of eight millions to carry out telegraph and telephone arrears of work. Most of the money will be required for erecting telephone and telegraph trunk lines. At the present time twelve thousand applicants for telephones cannot he connected. BRISBANE, Feb. 2.
The fruit fly in Stanhope district has caused damage amounting to £50,000 to this season’s fruit crop. The Treasurer, Mr. Fihelly, has been appointed Agent-General in succession to Mr. Hunter.
(Received Feb. 3, 10.55 a.m.) PERTH, Feb. 3. The executive of the Labor Party conditionally accepted Mr Hughes’ invitation.
'Die Brisbane Trades Hall Council resolved to refuse Mr Hughes’ invitation to the proposed round-table conference.
