V.A. ■.'■■;,■..■ /'•'■• (Received August 26, 11.55 a.m.) ANTWERP, Aug. 25. The final of the 1500 metres swim resulted : Ross (America) 1, Verno't (Canada) 2, Beaurepaire (Victoria) 3. Ladies' 100 metres swim': Miss Walrond (New Zealand was third m her heat and competes m the final. Miss "Bleibtry (America) swam her heat m 74 2-5 sec, lowering the Olympic- records ' by 5 2-Ssec. Ladies' tennis singles (final) : Mdlle. Suzanne Lenglan. (France) beat Miss Holman (Britain) 6— 3. 6—o. Crosscountry running teams: The placings were : Finland 10 points, Britain 20, Sweden 23. — Reuter.
Details of the 100 metres swim show that it was a great race. Kahanamoku lowered his world's record by one-fifth of a second. Ross; Harris and Herald deadheated for third place. Harris was all out and had to'be lifted from the water and massaged for %en minutes before he was able* to stand. The judge's, decision that the race be re-swum caused no surprise, Herald being clearly boxed in.— Times. '
