BRISBANE, Aug. 25. Beforo the Medical Congress, Dr. Barrington read a paper dealing with the problems of .birth. It was shown that' m hospitals and properly conducted institutions the use of antesthetics, antiseptics, and^ non-meddlesortie midwifery had resulted m an enormous, reduction m mortality. On the other hand, m outside institutions, mothers and babies suffered almost as much as m the past. It was stated as.an established fact that a certain . disease caused 30 to per cent, of childless marriages and 20 per per cent, of blindness m infancy, — U.P.A. , ■■ ' '
