vr • LONDON, July 22. Messrs. Cutliwo, Leslie, and Burkei have returaied to London. Interviewed Uiey considered the CJenoa Seamen's Conierence satisfactory from the Australian etandp«int, although tbe v disappointed 1 that the forty-eight-hour week, which Australia strongly supported, nras not accepted. Tho necessary two-thirds majority m-us not reached by one vote, due to the strong stand of "the British Government delegate* supporting the shipowners. However, the • delegates wei;o satisfied that seamen's hours wfll be revised. Discussing employment and insurance, the delegates said, the upshot of tho conference was a. promise that facilities for finding crews would , be greatly increased. Seamen will cease to be, penalised for obtaining employment as hitherto.-^A; and y.Z.C.A.
