SEATTLE BOUGHT AN "ELEPHANT."
I When Seattle last year bought out Its local street car company for £3,000,000 m real money it was heralded far and wide as evidence of tlje thrift, foresight and enterprise of that thriving and growing city. Having now operated thc plant for a year statements Are coming from Seattle which seem to indicate that trie transaction was- evidence of the thrift, foresight, and enterprise of the owners whc- unloaded their property on to the city. The corporation counsel has advised the Mayor of Seattle that m the opinion of those who know the £.1,000.000 paid for the property 'was worth £1,200,000 more than it was worth.
