BAND BATTLE.
ORGANISATION OF "FLYING
CORPS."
What is claimed to be the best meetin jr of tbe great Band Battle campaign was heldl at the Abercorn Hall last evenin-/, when the "Flying Corps" was organised amongst residents of Whataupoko. Mr W. J. Sinclair, convenor, presided, and in opening said it was desired to put the band on a permanent basis. He pointed out tbat the Wanganui band had just obtained a bandmaster from Home, and it was quite on the cards Wanganui would have the finest band in Australasia. The executive had been going into the finances, and hoped to be abl ' to tell the public .shortly exactly what was needed to place the band on a permanent basis, combined with what the/ could earn themselves during the year.
Considerable good humor prevailed, more especially in consequence of the declaration of allegiance with other hostile "armies" made by several prominent citi/.ens who were proposed as officials. However, a strong organisation was obtaived, and the "Flying Corps" (black and gold) promises to make itself felt in the pending hostilities.
