MODERN HELEN : BABY HUGHES'S JOY RIDE.

LONDON. June 30.— When the Australians captured Mr. Hughes at Victoria Station on Sunday the Prime Minister's wife and .child were seated in a motor car which waited in the yard. A tall soldier suddenly carried off the child, ienoring her mother's protests. Little Helen was delighted at the ride, and distributed: coy Handshakes amongst the Australians marching in the procession. ,She was brought back safely later in response to her mother's imploring. Mr. Hughes enjoyed the whole good-humored incident. .
