GERMAN SCOLDED FOR WRITING TO FRENCH BISHOP.
PARIS, March 94.— Moneignor 'Alexis Charost,* Bishop of Lille, in. a speech in Paris on Sunday said that letters- he had written to the. Archbishop of Cologne protesting against German acts at Lille were -opened by the , Germaav .^military authorities, and the German prelate -was scolded for corresponding- with a French Bishop "who wrote , such rwicked letters." Tho Bishop described the cynical behavior of the Germans against^the defenceless'population of Lille, and also the deportation of 7000 residents of that city. The Bishop said he liad s protested to .German" churchmen, but their attitude , had been not to hear the cries of help from the victims of oppression.
