DESTRUCTION OF TOWNS BY FIRE
AUSTRIANS SUFFER HEAVILY.

Reuter's correspondent at American Headquarters states that evidence is accumulating that the enemy intends to withdraw behind the Hindenburg line m Lorraine if further pressed. The burning ©f towns along the Moselle likely to fall into our hands - continues. They, include Dommartin and L&ehausseie, both of -which are within the Hinideriburg line. The Germans arranged that Austrian troops should l bear the brunt of the attacks east of St. Mihiel. and ordered them to hold us back untiKtho Germanp had been -withdrawn. The Austrians consequently suffered heaviest, especially m prisoners. The entire artillery of the thirty-first /German division was captured.
