The weekly meeting' of the Poverty Bay Hookey Association was held last evening, Mr. G. R. Buscke presiding, t The dvnw for Thursday's matches resulted : Allies y. High School A, on No. 1 ground -(referees, Messrs. Eton and Gel-. har): on No. 2 ground Huia B meet Hig-h School B (referees, Messrs McLachlan and Atkinson). Correspondence was ; received from Auckland, stating that owing.' 'to- not having received further word from Suva as to when their team would be likely to come to Auckland they were not able to give the Poverty Bay Association the^ exact date Vhon they (the Aucklanders) would be coming to Ciishorne. Much interest is shown by the public m hockey this year, for at la.st ivght's meeting several donations were handed m, one from Mr.,J. Colley, presenting a trophy to the most-im-proved first or second year player ; Mr. T. Ha ; sman, a trophy for the next best tivst or second year player ; an anonjjraous donation of three guineas to the touring! team, and also ah offer from several gentlemen to put the reserve m much better order. This week will sec the finals of the first round played, and as there is only a point or two between the leading teams, the public can rely on seeing some exciting matches during the second round of the competition. The Hiua B and Hiph School A match, which was played last Saturday, was won by the school team by 5 "to nil. For the winners. X Het (4) and E. Hei (1) did the scoring. H. Minnis, A. Bilhani, and R. Benson all played well for the school. Amongst the Huia team E. Barry, L. and R. Scott, and M. Matthews were all playing well. The game wjir controlled! by Messrs. Eton and Polllock. , ■■* . ■ »
