A final opportunity will be afforded to-night to see the American comedy. "Broadway Jones," which has earned such a high opinion at His Majesty's. llt stars the American favorite, George M. Cohan, m the title role, and, though ' it is his first appearance for the movies, he achieves as big a success as he ever ditl on the legitimate stage. The story is clever, brightly told, and magnificently produced. An ambitious young follow is m business with his uncle m aii American country town. The out-of-date methods irritate the brisk-mind-ed youngster, who favors a big advertising scheme which will make the firm's production— a variety of chewing gum— world famous, but the old man is content with sate and sure profits. They f.'ill out over the matter; young Jones withdraws from the business, and makes his way to New York, where he pro(cuds to dissipate his patrimony. His adventures, m the great city, where he falls m with a fast set, are most amusi<i«. and keep the audience m a continual simmer of laughter. It is not long before he runs through his cash, and m desperation he becomes engaged to a wealthy widow. Realising his mistake lie endeavors to avoid v the lady, and her pursuit of- her victim adds still further laughter to the play, It is not until his butler marries the widow and thus releases him that Broadway finds aniy peace. The story winds up happily, Broadway marrying the sweet little miss he had left behind. It is a delightful comedy. The programme includes the latest American and Australian "" Gazettes and a cotiple of Harry Julius' funny animated cartoons. A big attraction is announced for to-morrow night, when •ho Fox Films Corporation will present William Farnum m a gripping drama of the northern snows— "The End of the Trail.'* This fine film, reminiscent of j ihp powerful stories by Rex Beach, is well supported by a good programme, including a riotous comedy, "The House of Terrible Scandal.'^, EVERYBODY'S. "Alimony," the first National Exhibitors' programme shown m Glsbome, is receiving well-merited patronage at Everybody's. It is the story of a wife who deliberately schemes to obtain a divorce from her husband, whom she regards merely as her banker. When she accomplishes this, the wife sets about lo win the affections of a young millionaire, who, so she imagines, intends marrying her. In reality the young man: cares for another girl, Marjorie Lansing, whom he marries. The husband engages a clever detective, who unravels the maze of intrigue woven by the conspirators. The supports include j another, excellent portion of the "History of the War" and the latest Pathe Gazette. Th,ese picture will be finally shown tP-night. Three brilliant attractions will be presented to-morrow, commencing at the matinee. First and foremost is Olive Thomas— whose popularity with fiisbornites still remains unchallenged — who will be seen m her latest electric success, "Betty Takes a Hand." Her ' car exploits m this picture stagge,rod the automobile experts of New York. The two, other top-notchers are respectively t.he second episode of "The Great Secret" serial, starring Francis X, Bushman and Beyerly Bayne, and a unique set of Ytews of the Queen City of the north— Auckland— taken from a hydroplane. THE PALACE. At the Palace to-night, Ethel Barrymoro will make her final appearance m the beautiful story of mother love and devotion, "The Eternal Mother." As Marls Alden, the wife of a mill owner, whose wealth is derived from the emploj'ment of ch^lfl labor, Miss Barrympre gives a splendid portrayal. Through her efforts the mill-owner is brought to see the error of his ways, and the lives of his mill-hands are made happier. The picture presents a terrjbje. indictment of the employment of child labor, and the United States Congress gave the film special approbation. The final epispde of "she Purple Domino" is also attracting a lot of attention, followers of the who^e sixteen chapters being Jou4 m their praise of this fine serial. incidentally the management state the nest serial will be something M just out of the box." "Lonesme Luke's Wild -Women," to-night's comedy, provides many mirth-raising situations, with a grand finale, which creates a riot of laughter.
