Sir Douglas Haig reports : An attack on the nipht of the Ist north-west of Albert, with a view to the r6-capturo of the ground taken by us on the night of the 30th, was repulsed except at one point, where the enemy obtained a foot-. ing in a trench. We repulsed raids in the neighborhood of Aveluy Wood, Avion, nnd Hinges.
