J. C. WILLIAMSON PANTOMIME.
Another full house greeted the farewell performance of "Dick Whittington," the pantomime presented by J. C. Williamson, Ltd., an accordance with the annual custom. The audience was delighted rarith the 'beautiful bfillets, pretty dancing, gorgeous tableaux, and striking pageantry, the numerous special features, and the clever comedy that maintained a spirit of merriment all through. Miss Vera Pearce, the principal "boy," again won great favor for the splendid' manner m which she took the role of Dick Whittington, and her singing and dancing were greatly enjoyed, her personal. charm adding to the distinct Success attained. Miss Pauline Bindley was' a very dainty Alice, wath all the girlish charms befitting the part. Her songs, "Love, bring you safely to my arms again," and "Songs my Mother sang to me" were, insistently encored,; the young lady's sweet soprano voice being heard to great advantage. The charming Bendigo singer was taught by her father, who was responsible for Amy Castle's preparation for her brilliant debut at Melbourne. Miss Maggie Dickinson, the accomplished solo dancer, scored a great triumph m the balleta, being ably supported by Muss' Maud Amery and Mr Sidney Yates. Mr Howard Vernon, the popular veteran actor, effectively acted the part of the Emperor of Morocco, who had some good singing numbers. Mr Villiers Arnold, as the Demon, contributed some dramatic singing, including "King of the Night." Ihe happy band of comedians rwas headed by the wonderful Dame, .Mr Arthur Stigant, and they kept the audience m a very merry mood, while "Mary's" costumes were a revelation iii design as each new garment or hat ivns brought into the limelight. All the other performers did well, including the youthful pair, Thelma Burness and Marjory Wiggs; also the fine^ acrobats, the Oaanilile trio. On the conclusion of a most successful season the company left for Napier by the Arahura. The, steamer departedi at 6 a.m., and the company is hilled to play at Hastings to-night.
