PRICE OF BREAD.

A conference between liepresentativies of local master bakers and the Hon. W. 1). S. The deputationists stated that they had come fully armed with information for Mr. Mac Donald's consideration. The Minister remarked he fully real--1 ised their difficulties. Mr. Beere stated that they had had to pay as much as £18 a ton for' flour, and £9 6s 5d freight and charges on I 70 sacks from Auckland. „ i The Minister : They can only charge £16 a ton at Auckland. I Mr. Beere : But this was Australian flour. Mr Beere further explained that the cost of delivery worked out on two businesses averaged at a little over 1 l-8d per loaf for delivery alone.
