The sad intelligence was received on Saturday afternoon by, Mr R. Cole headmaster of the Mangapapa School, that his brother, Sergeant Ken. Cole, had been kiUedi m action. The deceased soldier was before enlisting, a traveller for Messrs Begg. and Co., (with, headquarters at Wellington,, and frequently visited Gisborne, where he -was wellknown! and held in> high esteem. Ho was awarded the- Military Medal for gallantry m the field m January- tasty whereby a big supply of ammunition was saved from capture by the enemy. • ' ."
