SAVING ITALY'S MONUMENTS.
' JVfILAN, January 14. Much concern has been expressed by lovers of antiquities m the British Press over the fate of the celebrated monument to Bartolomeo Cblleoni at Venice owing to the fact that on account of its stupendous weight (146 tons) it was found impossible to remove it during the critical phase of the October retreat. • Readers will therefore be pleased to learn that Commendatore Colasanti has successfully accomplished the arduous task entrustod to him by tho Ministry of Fine Arts, so that the Colleoni monument has arrived safely at Rome, whither the four massive horses from tho facade o f the basilica of St. Mark had preceded it to find a temporary home m the ancient castle of Sant Angelo on tho banks of the Tiber.
