A TEAMSTER'S DEATH.
. ♦ . FATALITY QN GRAY'S HILL. The road known as Gray's hill was the scene of a fatal accident yesterday^ afternoon when a teamster named Edward Thomas Forbes, aged about 36 years, was killed by the overturning ol a .waggon. Deceased was driving a five-horse express for ilr H. GiHard,.-cam.er > who was following some distance behind m another waggon. Froni": .wEaf* can 'be fathered ; it appears deceased's .waggon when about a -quarter of a mile from- the top of the lull (they- wererprocseding to Waimata) hit the corner post <if a breast work against tlie inside bank and turned over. It capsized off the -road, landing completely upside down. " One of tlie pole horses was killed,- aud it ia surmised this- horse rolled on deceased, as it was found on top of him by Messrs J. Appleton, and C. Hill— when they happened .to .come along. Deceased was dead when he was discovered. The other pole horse was lying on its back an a hole, but was -not hurt. The hook at the end of the pole broko, liberating the leaders, which galloped down the hill and went over the bank further down, but werja not injured. ' Deceased had .been driving for Mr Gillard for about .three weeks on this occation, but he was so employed, for about three weeks before • last winter. He leaves a wife and two children.
