BRITISH PENSION SCHEME.
(Australian and N.Z. "able Association.) LONDON, February 28. The new pensions for disabled soldiers and sailors or the dependants of the killed, allow the privates who are disabled m the highest degree, such as lunacy, loss of two limbs, or a limb and an eye, or both eyes, 275. 6d weekly, with allowances for children. The pensions cover many degrees, the lowest being 5s 6d^ for two fingers. An important provision is one that takes into account the pre-war standard of living. Pensions for that purpose may reach an inclusive maximum of 755. * Widows generally, will receive half of the highest m the disablement scale and full children's allowances. Provision is made for gratuities, the maximum being £200 for minor injuries, instead of a pension. The cost for the year 1918-19 is estimated at £25,000,000.
