SOLDIERS AND POLITICS.
RETURNED MAX OFFERS AS
CANDIDATE.

WELLINGTON, this day. A returned soldier has written to the secretary of the New Zealand Returned Soldiei-s* Association, offering himself as a candidate for the Hawke's Bay byelection. The proposal was considered at a meeting of the New Zealand executive of the Association, and the secretary explained that as the organisation was non-political, he had replied that it was not concerned m the matter of candidates for Parliament. The reply was approved "by the executive.
