DOCTORS AND NURSES.
SHORTAGE CAUSES ACUTE
POSITION
(Per Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, last night. At a meeting of the Hospital Board to-day, Dr Fox, medical superintendent of the Christchuroh Hospital, drew attention to the shortage of doctors and nurses owing to the war. The position was so acute that it was coming to the point when it would; be impossible to carry on. He suggested that the military authorities should be asked to loan the Board four medical officers to relieve the position, lieutenants to serve six months and then be replaced and a senior officer to serve for the duration of the war. ■
It was agreed that the medical superintendent should proceed to Wellington to make representations to Sir James Allen and Mr Russell m the matter.
