SCHOOL PICNIC.
With smiling f uccg aud wit j, a Bpirit ot expectancy for a aJeasant outing, betwoen 600 and 700 children left town by special train this morning for Ormoncf. Ihe occasion was the annual picnic gathering m connection with the Gisborne .school, Hiid the scene of festivities was the- property of Mr C. Neenan, kindly placed at the. di«|>osal of the promoters. Ihe special train which left town at 9.45 this morning; consisted of sax carnages and eight trucks, a.l of which were well filled. There were yells of delight ns the train drew, out of the station with its human freight. It was not long before the picnic grounds were r-ached. It was an ideal place for such a gathering and the youngsters were soon to be . s een scampering about the paddock and joining m games and sports of vari. ous kinds. A number of parents accompanied the juveniles'. Careful attention had been given to the commissariat arrangements, and the picnickers were well entered for. The general arrangements were capably carried out by the teaching htaff and members of the School Committee. •
