RAILWAY RE-ORGANISATION.
ELIGIBLES AND MILITARY SERVICE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Before the Military Service Board today, the Railway Department appealed m the case of six employees — firemen and cleaners— on the ground that they were indispensable. . The traffic manager. - said. 50 firemen had voluntarily enlisted from this district, and there were 18 vacancies, which he could not fill. Captain Free said that if a private employer made a similar appeal, the Board would begin to question his loyalty. The Department would have to use medically unfit men* : , i The Chairman said the Board would not gran t^ the appeal. There must be a reorganisation, so that eligibles could be released. The applications were adjourned for a month. '
