The famous old hunter and highjumper Desmond has just died m New .South Wales. This old favorite, had been kept m a. special box for several years, and had a run m a small paddock m which a foa.l was always kept for company for the old felloW Desmond was about 30 years old, and was tuidoubtedly the greatest show -ground jumper that has ever appeared m Australian, rings. He was bred near Benalla, iii " Victoria, and passed through several hands before coming into the possession of Mr 11. IX Morton, wlm bought" him when he jumped 6ft lOin at Albury.
