The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their stock sale held at Matawhero saleyards on Thursday, May 27th., as folkws: — The atendance Avas good and the general tone of the market was considerably improved on recent sales. The good rains during the last week accounted, for the better demand. Hoggets were m good demand. Fat sheep and fat cattle sold readily at satisfactory prices: — Fat Sheep: Light Aveight eAves 12s 3d to 13s Bd. Better-finished ewes 15s 7d to 18s 3d. Fat sheep : We yarded 2838 ; and sold 2730 at the following prices : Medium sorts, hoggets 5s 7dto 7s Bd, cull hoggets Is 9d. _no good lines ; of hoggets Avere offered. Four a_d 5-year ewes m- lamb 10s, 2-tooth-5-year eAVesin lamb, fair sorts, 8s; aged ewes inlamb 5s to 5s 6d; empty ewes, -brAvssrd condition, 10s; do.^ loav condition; 6s 6d to 7s 6d; mixed two-tooths,* for-. Avaixl, 15s 6d; cull ewes 2s 3d to 3s. The entry of sheep taken right through Avas not of the best, quality. Pigs : A small entry. Porkers JB2 2s. Fat cattle : A good demand.
