A meeting of the Council of the Dominion Bowling Association was held tonight. The question of the composition of bowls came up for consideration. A Bussey bowl had been cut- in two and forwarded .by . the 'agents for approval. The Council had also sent to Colonel Collins, asking for a sample of the Excellite bowl, but it was stated that apparently there . had been some misunderstanding, one sample being a Bussey. It was resolved tc approve the Bussey bowl as sent by the.: makers, the sample to be returned, . it being explained that the motion would be sufficient, as the rules of the Association would necessitate all such bowls being according to particular, sample. ... The matter of the EXcellite bowl was left to the executive com;mittee with power to act when the sample arrived. The matter of having both feet on the mat when delivering a bowl also came up. for consideration. After prolonged discussion, it was resolved that -a player, whilei delivering his bowl, must have a portion or the whole of both feet on. the mat. Mr C. R. Smith said the question now arose of the size of mats. He suggested that the Council should take some steps as to inviting ideas as to what was the best mat and most suitable for all sorts of weather and- conditions. They should endeavor to get a uniform mat througli.out- the ; Dominion. The Council might then, order an approved mat and provide same for all clubs. The Council proceeded to consideration of alterations of rules, the principle being the; question of bowl testing. No finality was reached, and the meeting adjourned till 20th inst. The committee of the Turanganui Bowling Club met. last evening, and went into the financial position of the club. The statement to be presented to the annual meeting to-night shows a profit on the year's working of £45. The winners of trophies during the season are: President's Fours— A. . Law, H. J. Finn, W.
