LAn inquest was held on Saturday afternoon, before Mr. U. S. Flora-nee, ii\ connection \Vi(k tin- sudden <U-atU of Nh 1 William Jones, which took place at his residence at. Malawliero on >Snturday morning. Kvidence was given by Ethel Kutli Jones, Francis Turner fStacev, and Dr. Kidd.
The evidence showed that deceased went to work, .as usual on Friday, and returned to lunch at midday, and again at night, but liiade no complaint, about feeling ill, not even" up to the ti'hi'c lie went to bed. During the .week' he, had complained of a pain m his left side. He said he tliought it was through lifting two bags of barley into a .box last Monday week, during the Hood. About 3,45 on Saturday morning deceased's daughter woke up", and heard her. father groaning. • Site went lo his. bedroom and asked if she could do -anything for him, ajid ho said no. His light was burning. f \Hss • Jones returned about 5.30 a.m., and spc-ke to deceased, but getting, no reply, she called Mr Stacey, who was sleeping m the front loom/ He cume iii; he lighted deceased m the bed, put hot water to his feet, and. chafed his hands, and spoke to deceased, who did not answer. Jjr. Kicld was sent for, and lie arrived a few minutes after deceased died. Deceased had. been breathing Heavily, but did not appear to be suffering airy pain. The presumption was that he over-strained an organically weak heart, and thereby . brought about his death, which was the immediate result of heart failure., . The coroner returned a verdict that death was due to hecirt failure.
Deceased was interred at the Mafcaraka cemetery yesterday afternoon, the funeral beijig lafgei v t^ttendfid._ _
