DISCOVERY OF DIAMONDS.

It is stated that a discovery of diamonds has been made m the district by Mr Milne-Pott, of Opotiki. Mr Pott, it is said, discovered the stones somo time ago, and submitted them to lapidaries at Auckland and Cliristchurch, for an expression of opinion as to their value. A reply has been received from tho southern city to the effecf, that the stones submitted are genuine diamonds. Naturally, Mr Milne-Pott will "not at present divulge the locality of tho find. He expresses his willingness, however, to show tho stones m his possession to anyone interested. _These stones aro small ones but a quantity of large size are away for examination, and are dailyexpected- to be returned. > Interviewed by a Guardian reporter, Mr Milne-Pott confirmed the statement regarding the discovery, and produced a number of small Uncut stones for inspection. Some larger diamonds, he said, are now away for examination.
