SUNDAY FUNERALS.
(Special to Herald.)
DUNEDIN, this day. The Dunedin Presbytery is opposed tp Sunday funerals, and when it discussed the subject yesterday, ministers had the satisfaction of knowing that the local undertakers were m union with them. Leading representatives of the latter were present, and one and all stated that they were opposed to .Sunday \ burials. One undertaker went as far as to suggest tliat if there must be Sunday funerals, there should be a special minister for them. It was stated m the course of discussion | that Anglican and Congregational ministers were m aympathy with those moving m the matter m the Presbyterian Church. The Rtev. W. Sfcorgie said tbat m his experience they were generally tho poorest people who asked for Sunday funerals, and probably one reason was tliat relatives could attend without losing a day's work. It was eventually decided, on the motion of tho Rev. J. Aitken, that action be taken, approaching the ministers of Dunedin and suburbs individually, with a view to uniting them to make a strong resolution against Sunday funerals.
