HAWKE'S BAY LAND BOARD.

Mr E. G. Matthews waited upon the Board with reference to an application by Mr Holdsworthy for an exchange of a forest reserve on the Bushy KnollWaikaremoana road, which waa recommended for approval by the ranger. — Deferred. Mr W. Morgan, secretary of the High School Board, waited upon the Board with reference to the completion of the survey and road access m respect of a section m the High School endowment near Tolaga Bay. — Mr Caldwell, adjoining owner, to be approached respecting consent, failing which the Board will take further action. Mr J. Clark interviewed the Board respecting sections 4 and 5, block 1, Turanganui, a renewal of which he had declined. Mr Clark explained that the ■ prices were so high that he could not | see his way to take' them. Thinking that he bad another two years to run. he had put the land down m crop, and he now had a crop stack on it. The lease exoired m January, and he asked that he might have an extension of two or three months to get his crop off. He desired fo cut tho crop for chaff.— The Commissioner said there would be no trouble m arranging to protect >Mr Clark's crops, and it could be made a condition that he should have a month to remove the same.— The Crown Lands Ranger recommended that the property bo offered for lease as originally subdivided. — Agreed to, boundaries to be re-surveyed. — Mr Clark was granted tbe grazing rights until the property was reg>t.— The Ranger explained that the property comnrised 45 and 52 acres respectively, just across the Waipaoa bridge, eight miles from Gisborne.— The Commissioner said that it would make two splendid dairy farms. _ Mr D. G. Robertson, Crown Lands ranger, submitted a report upon various land for settlement estates m this district. Summarised, the report was as follows:— . Te Arai, 224 souls residing, 54 houses on holdings, area- 10,648 acres, improvements required £41,019, improvements effected £46,215 ; Pouparae, 51 souls residing, houses 9, area 336 acres, improvements required £945, effected £5799; Kanakanaia, 26 persons residing, houses 6, area 5296 acres, improvements £16,730, effected £14,946; Wigan, 69 souls residing, houses 18. area 10,044 acres, improvements required £10,135. effected £33.532; Clydebank. 68 souls residing, 22 houses, area 9660 acres, improvements required £10,568, effected 4223,054; Waimarie, 77 souls . residing, nouses 16, area 425 acres, improvements required £1131, effected £5734: Willows, 75 souls residing, houses 16. area 775 acres, improvements required £1913, effected £8596 ; Ngatapa, 97 souls'residing, houses 24, area 10,527 acres, improvements required £16,442, effected £35,028. ■_
