(Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. The Hawke Cup challenge match, Poverty Bay v. Wanganui, commenced to-day. After a. night's heavy rain! there was a heavy but drying wicket. Wanganui won the toss and' batted first, the scores being: Orton, bit wicket, b McMahon, 28; Butterworth, c J. Gibson, b, McMahon, 14; H. B. Cave, b ■MeMhhori, 0; Sanders, not out. 18; flfassey, <: Olsen, Cattanach, ' 10; extras 8. There were four wickets down for 79 when the luncheon adjournment took place.
