WEDDING AT WHATATTUTU.
At Whatatutu, on March 24th, amidst pouring rain and flooded rivers, the first wedding solemnised m the township took place, at the residence of the bride's parents, the contracting parties being Mr Walter Shepperd, third son of Mr Henry Shepperd, schoolmaster, Wendonside, Otago, and Miss Annie Rae, eldest daughter of Mr John Rae, the well-known carrier, of Whatatutu. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Hall, of Ormond, m the presence of 'a fairly large gathering. The bride looked charming m a dress of cream radianta, with the usual veil and orange blossoms. Miss Heaphy acted as brides- 1 maid, and Mr Stewart as groomsman. The. bride received numerous useful presents, showing the high esteem m Avhich she was held. After, the breakfast, the happy couple left by motor oar, amidst showers of rice and pouring vain, for Gisborne, en route for Auckland and the South.
