After the judge's summing up m the trial of Sumner and Eltoft for the murder of Miss Bradfield, the jury was absent for an hour. Sumner, whose real name is George Balls, was found guilty of murder, and Eltoft as accessory after the fact. The latter waa recommended to mercy owing to his youth and being influenced by Sumner. Sumner was sentenced to death. He was quite unmoved when the sentence was pronounced. Eltoft was sentenced to four years' imprisonment.
