After the President took refuge on gunboat, -fighting began m the streets, the revolutionary element wrecking vengeance on the town because they were unable to capture President Oreste.

After a sharp struggle the crowd attempted to lynch individual policemen' who were using revolvers and clubs, and who wouhded many rioters.

Congress is holding an extraordinary session, and is considering means' of suppressing the revolution. The legations aro guarded.
