NEW YORK, Sepfc .1. The last barrier of the Pacific end of the Panama Canal was blown up with 541 shots and the water flowed m quickly. Dredges are working clearthe channel.

Dredges will start clearing the last barrier at the Atlantic end on September 2, and when this is finished the canal will be navigiable by ships.
