MATAWAI NOTES.
As we have not heard much about Matawai of late, I am sending you a few facts which I believe will prove interesting to your readers. Matawai is rapidly growing into the solid township that we have oeen expecting to spring up here. We have now no less than six general stores m Matawai, and another one m course of erection. There have also been several ' nice cottages built here during the past twelve months. A most enjoyable everting was spent m tlw Matawai hall on Friday evening last, when a social and dance was given by the newly-formed football club. . 'The stock " are looking exceptionally we'll ,m this district, and although some of the pastures suffered by the summer fires, still. l think the Matawai district is better off for feed than most parts of Poverty Bay.— (Correspondent.)
