PATHE PICTURES.

Tho beautiful "Wood Violet" last night added hundreds more to her already long string of admirers at His Majesty's Theatre. The story of the lovely girl ■who prefers her cabin m the hills to a city mansion is delightfully told by the Vitagraph players, and it war, followed -with a closeness last night that showed it was being thoroughly enjoyed. " "Leonine," the pretty model of the Latin Quartier, who by her constancy wins the heart of her artist employer, had the sympathy of the audience from first to last. "An Official Appointment," the touching story of the old soldier who seeks a billet at the White House only to have a joke played upon him by the clerks, was much admired. The^old Southerner saves the life of the daughter of the Secretary of State, and 30 secures a legitimate appointment, but it arrives too late, as "lights out" have sounded for the colonel. "Buffalo Hunting 'm Cochin China" makes a fine sporting film, as well as being a most attractive scenic picture. A novel and amusing animal study is provided m "Curious Companions," which shows a kitten and a monkey playing all sorts of laughable antics. "London Traffic" was a film that interested everyone, as also did the

"Pathe Gazette." This bright series will be shown for the last time to-night. The mid-week change will appear tomorrow evening, when an additional attraction will be the first appearance m Gisborno of Mr Borneo' Gardiner, the brilliant New Zealand siffleur, who has just concluded a most successful Australian tour under engagement to Riekard's management. His appearance will be all the more interesting on account of the fact that Mr Gardiner is well known m Gisborne, 'having spent his school days here. He intends proceeding to England next month.
