BOXING COUNCIL.

CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At the last meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Council a letter was received from the Queensland Association m respect to the status of League footballers. The Council expressed the opinion that football is a pastime, not an athletic exercise, and if a League player signed a declaration that he had not received payment he would be deemed an amateur. It was decided to bring under the notice of the Northern Association the report that it is contemplating an arrangement with Mr H. D. Mcintosh for boxing contests m connection with the exhibition. The Otr<jo Association reported a tentative arrange, ment for September 22 and 23, the dates of the Australasian championships.
