Tho Governor-in-Council rescinded the resolutions of the Brisbane and South Brisbane City Councils, granting licenses for the erection of a stadium at South Brisbane, and authorising the holding of boxing contests at the Palace Gardens. Churchas and other bodies strongly opposed the lioenses. • A quarantine station has been estab- ] lished at Thursday Island as an outcome of an agaitation against Sydney being made a central station for patients arriving by steamers from the East.
