MUNICIPAL GOLF LINKS.
EXPERIMENT IN SYDNEY
SYDNEY, May 17. If you visit Sydney a fortnight hence or later you will be able jto play on municipally owned, and managed golf links. Sydney city councillors are proud of tho fact that the making of these links has converted a garbage tip and a run for the council's horses into a fine green. A course of nine holesv has been laid out to begin with, but if the experiment is a success— and there seems to be no doubt about it — there is plenty of eminently suitable land adjoining for a full 18-hole course. For the information of the many who follow or worship m New Zealand the ancient game the following particulars of the Sydney municipal golf links may as well b© given — Tlie nine holes are iA excellent country, well turfed on the aairways, and of a sandy nalnire. They 'cover a distance of 2498 yards, and have approximately the following lengths : 1 297 yds, 2 232 yds, 3 363 yds, 4 132 yds, 5 412 yds, 6 280 yds, 7 227 yds, 8 440 yds, 9 135 yds. If the- council carries into effect a' recommendation by the town clerk a charge of 6d for the oourso, of nine holes will be made.
