RELIGIOUS MANIA.
MURDER OF YOUNG LADY

A remarkable tragedy is reported from North Sydney, where a young man named Drysdale shot a friend named Miss Day dead, and seriously wounded himself. Drysdale, who is believed to be suffering from religious mania, made a rambling statement m the hospital to the effect that he looked up to heaven ar)d something told him he must take life, so lie went .inside and did the shooting. He added tliat the Bible referred to a new life hereafter, and he wanted to go there with Miss Day. (Received June 2, 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 2. No motive for the crime can bo given. Miss Day was 40 years of age. Shr lived with the Drysdales for years, and was treated as one of the family. She was on the best of terms with her slayer, who a year ago attempted to commit suicide. Since then he had 6 voted almost his whole time to the study of religious questions. He declared that the crime was the will of God.
