ENDORSING HER CHEQUE.
"Just sign your name across the cheque," the teller kind|y said, The lady drew herself erect, and proudly shook her head. "I have my gloves on," she observed across the marble shelf; "Why must I sign? v Why don't you sign the silly thing^yourself ?" The teller with his -;!well-knawed pen rapped wildly on his teeth. j "You act," the lady stormed, enraged, "as if I were a thief. That cheque is just .as good as gold, and it's a small amount ; My husband signed it ; your old bank is keeping his account." The teller groaned, ~j&s did a line of people at the rear. "You- must endorse it — it's the rule," "he said, and scratched his ear. "Well, if that's so," lady snapped m accents of disgust, "I'll sign it — not because it's right, but just because I must. I'll tell my husband right array ; you have yourself to thank; He'll, take his money out of here and to a nicer bank ; "Just think !" She . dropped the dripping pen and straightened up her hat. . . To waste my time m making me do such a thing as that!" ' .'. ■ And then the teller viewed the chequetier name was written wrong, And scribbled where upon a - cheque endorsement don't belong.
