COMPENSATION CLAIMS.
INTERESTING OPTICAL POINT. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. At the Arbitration Court, Carl Olson)" having sustained a broken leg while m the employ of Jagger and Harvey, the defendant company consented to an order for a lump sum of £76 and 10s 6d weekly. In the case of William Grace against the Auckland Gas Company, m which compensation was claimed for the loss of one eye, Mr Mays contended that to all intents J and purposes the sight of the i eye had been destroyed. Mr Richmond, for the defence, said that for an eye to be useless it must be sightless, whereas plaintiff could partly see. The facts of the case ha<l been agreed upon, aud this was the only point for the Court to decide. Judgment was reserved.
