The Grand Council almost unanimously assented to the Government's proposal to frankly accept the Powers' advance. Accordingly Turkey places herself in the hands of the Powers, and agrees {■0 their proposal regarding Adrianople and the islands. ■ Forty Turks were killed and 164 wounded at Heneds on Saturd>ay. Two of their Avarships Avere badly damaged. A shell killed or Avounded everyone inside one of the Torqutrie's turrets. : BERLIN, January 22. A majority of the newspapers attribute the Porte s decision to Russia's threats to invade her Asiatic dominions. Tlie Tagische Riendschau states that the Entente PoAvers stiffened the backs of the Balkan States, and tho Triple Alliance Weakly allowed itself to be taken into tow. The Post considers Germany and Austria crushed to the wall by the Triple Entente Powers (Great Britain, France, and Russia).
