STRUCK THE PREMIER'S MOTOR.
INCIDENT AT MILTON,
Quite an exciting incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, when- the Prime Minister and party were motoring from Milton to Dunedin. The party comprised the Hon. Mr Massey, the Hon. Dr Poinare, Mr OV E. Statham, M.P., and Mr F. W. Furby -(private secretary to the Prime Minister). Just as the motor was leaving Milton (says the Otago Daily Times,), a horse attached to a trap, and driven by a youth, took fright and bolted. The horse made straight for the motor car, which it struck With considerable force, aiid , then glanced off. The car was righted only after it had gone for some distance at a dangerous angle on its two outside wheels. The trap .capsized, and the shaft* were broken. The driver, however, who was? thrown out, was, fortunately uninjured, whilst the horse also escaped .scatldess. The incident KaJd ill the essentials of a catastrophe, especially for Mr Statham ahd Mr Furby, Who were nearest to the impact. ■ '
