PATHE PICT URES.
An exceptionally entei tabling new series will be submitted by Patlie Pictuies at His Majesty's Theatre to-night. .- _h3 programme is nicely balanced and contains judicious blending of light and shade, which will make it appeal to the tastes ol all. Tho dramas are 'a par- , ticuhuly meritioriotts lot-. • "A W-esl-ern I Legacy" is as cleverly constructed a. story as tli© Kinema world has seen for a long time.' This pretty story teils how a youth and a maiden are left legacies on condition that they marry each other. Neither has seen the other, arid are averse to the match. The young man goes to visit the lady, disguised as a ridiculous fop, in the hope that slia will leject him. The lady enlists tlie . sympathy of her family to scare away ; the unwelcome suitor, and tliey all get them&elvek up as most ferocious and : unlettered wild Westerners. The com? I plications that ensue provide delightful ! entertainment. Later- tho pair meet each other without recognising each' other's identity, and Cupid is in his j element. "An Indian Summer" gives the po'pular Biograph players scope for some very fine acting. This same drama tells how a couple pause on tlie hilltop of life long enough to fa3l in love with each other. The man is sensitive about the thinness of his hair, and writes to the manufacturer of a wonderful hair tonic to remedy the defect. Ho is so secretive about tlie latter tliat his lady is convinced she has a rival and the engagement is summarily broken off. A happy chance explains away the mis/ understanding, and a/ splendidly told story concludes to the accompaniment of wedding bells. "Ihe Mine on the Yukon" is a rugged drama which carries with it the "scent of Western pines and the sense of wide spaces. A thoroughly enjoyable comedy is ''The Speed Demon" which tells how a motor maniac is ambitious to 'enter for a speed race. His ambition is fulfilled but by the time he finishes tine shades of night have fallen and the spectators have all gone home, ''Waterfalls of Tivoli," "Pottery Making in America" and a new "Gauraont Graphic" are well worth seeing, while the remaining subjects are up to the high standard insisted upon by the management. Lovers of a really good picture programme will thoroughly enjoy to-night's strong series.
